From the luthier... "I am calling this my "Rustic Koa" tenor simply because that is the first word that came to mind as I was putting on the finish.
This uke has a sweet mellow sound with a lot of projection for an all Koa uke. The Paua abalone rosette and purfling add a nice pop of color.
This guy has a lot of very delicate curl and some nice color variation. The binding and the center stripe down the back, fretboard and bridge are East Indian rosewood. The accents are Coolibah Burl. I was able to get a nice teardrop black accent on the backstrap this time.
The neck is Honduran Mahogany with a carbon fiber truss rod. The mahogany has just a faint little curl, which is kind of cool. Strings are a Pepe Romero wound low G string with custom high carbon fluorocarbon strings for the C, E, A. As always, there is a side soundport."
